There have been many who have been waiting for a Nintendo Direct to come around and reveal to us many of the wonders that Nintendo has planned for us in the year 2020. After a LOT of waiting, and a surprise announcement, we did indeed get the Nintendo Direct we had been waiting for, and one of the key things that they revealed was the date for the launch of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition.
The remastered and expanded version of the classic Wii title will feature not just improved graphics and systems suited to the Nintendo Switch, but it will feature a brand new epilogue story that has never been shown before. Giving even more closure to the characters in the game and allowing players old and new to have an even longer experience.
For those who don’t remember this game, Xenoblade Chronicles was the first game in the now beloved RPG franchise from Monolith Soft. It was a Wii game in China that wasn’t meant to be brought over to the US, but the fans started a movement and got it over and it became a cult classic. Then, it was ported over to the New Nintendo 3DS for others to play, and now, it’s making its home on the Switch.
The world revolves around two gods that were in eternal combat until they froze themselves in time, allowing humans and machines to take life on their literal bodies. We follow Shulk, a young fighter who wields the blade known as Monado. A powerful sword that allows him to see the future and thus prepare for attacks beforehand. With his friends at his side, he must save all of humanity from being wiped out.
The game will also have a special edition that comes with a massive 200+ page artbook. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition will arrive on Nintendo Switch on May 29th.
