This is the Monado’s power! A surprise Nintendo Direct launched this morning, confirming the release dates of some games, like Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, while revealing new ones. Let’s get into it. It’s Reyn time!
Panzer Dragoon Remake — today
This will be available on other consoles eventually, but it launches on Switch right now. Maybe if everyone buys it they’ll consider remaking Panzer Dragoon Saga! If you want a physical copy, check with Limited Run.
Bravely Default II Demo — today
The full game will be released on the Switch later in 2020.
Star wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy — today
Good Job! — today
It’s either a business simulator, or a business wrecking simulator. This is from Nintendo themselves.
Shinsekai: Into The Depths — today
A sidescrolling exploration game that casts you as an aquanaut journeying through the deep sea.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Expansion Pass — today
Curse of the Vampire, Rise of the Phoenix and Shadow of Doom expansions are now available.
Saints Row IV: Re-Elected — tomorrow
The crazy sandbox game is back and portable.
Vigor — April 9 (closed beta)
First time we’ve seen a closed beta happen on Switch.
Trials of Mana — April 24
A full 3D remake of the excellent SNES original which Americans never got (until last year). The demo is available now.
Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus — May 2020
Ninjala — May 27
Eight-player ninja battle royale, with a graphic style that reminds us of Splatoon.
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition — May 29
Contains the main game with improved graphics, plus “Future Connected,” a brand-new epilogue chapter. If you somehow missed the previous two releases on Wii and 3DS, it keeps getting ported and resold for a reason. Try it out!
Bioshock Collection, Borderlands Legendary Collection, XCOM 2 Collection — May 29
A leak months ago proved Bioshock Collection was at least on the way, but 2K went all out. May 29 is sure a stuffed day. That little “Additional download required” sticker on all three boxes is going to be an issue, though.
The Elder Scrolls: Blades — Spring 2020
Minecraft Dungeons — Spring 2020
Clubhouse Games: Worldwide Classics — June 5
Here’s how people spent their leisure time in a world before video games….51 ancient and analog tabletop games from all over the world are emulated here, from chess to Blackjack to Mah-Jong.
Mr. Driller: DrillLand — June 25
The Legend Of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III — June 30
Next Smash Bros Fighter — June
We didn’t get a trailer, possibly because the COVID-19 crisis has held up production somewhat, but we did get a hint: the next Smash Bros Ultimate fighter will be from ARMS. They didn’t specify which fighter (Twintelle please?) but to call attention to the decision, a free trial of ARMS will be made available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers for the next two weeks.
Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass Part 1: The Isle of Armor — June
Expansion includes a dojo where you’ll be given the Pokemon Kubfu. You can take Kubfu to one of two towers, where it’ll receive its evolved form and either a Dark or a Water attack (depending on the tower you picked). Part 2 of this expansion, The Crown Tundra, will be available this fall.
Catherine: Full Body — July 7
Hard-as-nails block-climbing puzzler combined with weird-as-heck soap opera storyline. A classic, unless you’re easily offended.
FUSER — Fall 2020
King’s Bounty II — 2020
Classic tactical RPG now wages war on Switch.
Burnout Paradise Remastered — 2020
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer — sometime soon
An N64 classic, and welcome on Switch. Much better than the movie.
